As redevelopment continues to reshape the City of East Orange, Mayor Ted R. Green is doubling down on one of the administration's core priorities: ensuring that East Orange residents, contractors, and small businesses are not simply witnesses to the city's growth—but active participants in it.
This August, the city will host two workforce-focused events designed to connect residents and local businesses directly to employment, apprenticeship, and contracting opportunities associated with The Crossings at Brick Church Station, one of East Orange's most transformative redevelopment projects.
On Tuesday, August 11, East Orange residents ages 18 and older are invited to attend the LiUNA! Union Apprenticeship Orientation Session, where participants will learn about career pathways into union construction trades supporting the Brick Church Redevelopment Project and other regional construction initiatives.
The following day, on Wednesday, August 12, minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses, local contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to participate in Crescent Connects: Upcoming Contractor Opportunities, an information session highlighting subcontracting and procurement opportunities for Phase 1B of The Crossings at Brick Church Station, a nine-story mixed-use development featuring 420 residential units and multiple retail spaces.
Together, the two events reflect Mayor Green's long-standing commitment to creating a complete economic pipeline—from workforce training and skilled trades to entrepreneurship and small business growth.

The Mayor's Office of Workforce Development continues to build strategic partnerships with labor organizations, developers, educational institutions, and private industry to ensure residents have access to high-quality careers while positioning East Orange businesses to compete for work generated by the city's unprecedented redevelopment activity.
The LiUNA! Orientation Session will introduce residents to apprenticeship opportunities that can lead to family-sustaining careers in the construction industry. Participants will receive information about eligibility requirements, apprenticeship pathways, and future employment opportunities tied to ongoing development projects.
The Crescent Connects Contractor Information Session will focus on connecting local and diverse firms with upcoming bid opportunities for construction trades including landscaping, drywall, flooring, insulation, masonry, finish carpentry, hardscape, painting, electrical, HVAC, low-voltage systems, plumbing, and specialty trades.
