Warren County Prosecutor Jessica L. Cardone, Chief of Detectives Brenton Warne, and Hackettstown Police Department Chief Aaron Perkins announce that on Thursday, June 11, 2026, a Warren County jury found Victor M. Torres, age 60 of Hackettstown, New Jersey guilty of:
- (3 counts) Aggravated Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-12a(1), a crime of the first degree;
- (2) Sexual Assault by Contact, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, a crime of the second degree;
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a crime of the second degree.
The sexual acts occurred in 2022 when the victim, who was known to the defendant, was less than thirteen (13) years old.
The Honorable Reema Sethi Kareer, J.S.C. presided over the trial. Torres is tentatively scheduled for sentencing in July/August 2026. Torres is remanded to the Warren County Correctional Center until sentencing.
At sentencing, Torres faces a sentence of 25 years to Life in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the Jessica Lunsford Act, for each first degree crime. Additionally, he faces a sentence of up to ten (10) years in New Jersey State Prison for each second degree crime. He will also be subject to Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for life.
