5/1/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to Spiotta Park for a male who was observed urinating in public. As a result a 55 year old East Orange man was issued a Special Complaint – Summons for urinating in public.

5/1/2026 Theft, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on South Orange Avenue for a reported shoplifting. Caller reported a female actor left the store without paying for items she had concealed in a reusable shopping bag. The actor fled prior to the arrival of patrol. The detective bureau was notified and investigating.

5/2/2026 Theft, Shoplifting
A patrol officer was flagged down near a business on Valley Street for a shoplifting which had just occurred. The sole female actor had concealed on her person a can of Sprite. The detective bureau was notified and investigating.

5/3/2026 Attempted Burglary
Patrol responded to a Summit Avenue residence for an attempted burglary. The resident related that he observed two male actors attempted to gain access to his home via multiple entry points but were ultimately unsuccessful. The actors then fled to a waiting vehicle before fleeing the scene prior to the arrival of patrol.

5/3/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to a residence on Riggs Place for a reported Noise Ordinance violation. Patrol subsequently issued a Special Complaint – Summons to the resident.

5/4/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to a residence on Irvington Avenue for a reported Noise Ordinance Violation. Patrol subsequently issued a Special Complaint – Summons to the resident.

Patrol responded to a residence located on Ward Place for a reported Noise Ordinance Violation. Patrol subsequently issued a Special Complaint – Summons to the resident.

5/5/2026 Warrant Arrest
Patrol initiated a motor vehicle stop on West South Orange Avenue near Trenchard Place for observed an observed motor vehicle violation (Failure to Observe Traffic Control Device). As a result of the on scene investigation the registered owner was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant out of Woodbridge, New Jersey without incident. Custody was turned over to Woodbridge Police after processing.

5/5/2026 Fraud
Patrol took a report of fraud from a resident of Park Place. The victim reported being defrauded out of $71,700.00. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

5/5/2026 Motor Vehicle Crash vs. Pedestrian
Units responded to the area of Grove Road for a reported motor vehicle crash versus a pedestrian. The pedestrian was treated and transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center to seek further treatment. The vehicle involved was impounded and the driver was issued the pertinent summonses for careless driving and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.

5/5/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to a residence on Montrose Street for a noise complaint. As a result of the on scene investigation two residents were issued Special Complaint – Summonses for a noise ordinance violation.

Patrol responded to a residence on South Centre Street for a noise complaint. As a result of the on scene investigation a resident was issued a Special Complaint – Summons for a noise ordinance violation.

5/6/2026 Recovered Stolen Auto
South Orange Police Headquarters received notification from the Roselle Park Police Department that a vehicle that was reported stolen out of their jurisdiction may have been left abandoned in the area of Holland Road and Kenmore Avenue. Patrol responded and located the vehicle. The vehicle was then impounded and turned over to the possession of Roselle Park Police Department.

5/6/2026 Fraud
A resident of Hoskier Road walked into Police Headquarters to report a fraud. The victim related that over a period of time a total amount of $2,954.61 was unlawfully removed from a bank account. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

5/6/2026 Warrant Arrest
Officers conducted a residential check of a dwelling on Speir Drive that was requested by the home owner. Located within the dwelling was a male wanted out of the jurisdiction of Union Township. The male party was subsequently placed under arrest without incident, processed at police headquarters and turned over to the custody of Union Police.

5/7/2026 DWI
Patrol responded to the area of South Ridgewood Road for a motorist who was reported to be unconscious in the roadway. Patrol arrived on scene and located the vehicle and the driver. As a result of the on scene investigation a 37 year old male from Newark, New Jersey was placed under arrest for DWI. He was later released to a responsible adult after his vehicle was impounded in accordance with John’s Law and issued his motor vehicle summonses.

5/7/2026 Assault
Patrol responded to a residence on Valley Street for an anonymously reported assault. Patrol made contact with the victim who related that a female actor that had fled the scene caused bodily injury to the victim’s arm. The victim chose not to pursue any further action on scene and was advised to contact the courts if he wished to pursue the matter.

5/7/2026 Trespassing
Patrol responded to a business on Valley Street after a female actor entered a restricted area of the business after being advised no to do so. An on scene investigation resulted in the issuance of a Special Complain – Summons to the female for Defiant Trespassing.

5/7/2026 Warrant Arrest
Patrol was dispatched to a business on South Orange Avenue for a village ordinance violation. Officers spotted an individual matching the description given by the caller and initiated a pedestrian stop after observing the individual mount a bicycle and commit a traffic violation. After an on scene investigation, a 51 year old male from Newark, New Jersey was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant out of South Orange, New Jersey. He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was charged accordingly.

5/7/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol was dispatched to a residence on West South Orange Avenue for a gas powered leaf blower violation. As a result of an on scene investigation a 38 year old landscaper from Rahway, New Jersey was subsequently issued a Special Complaint – Summons.

5/7/2026 Arrest, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on South Orange Avenue for an active shoplifting. A description of the actor was provided via police radio and officers located the female actor in front of Police Headquarters. As a result of an on scene investigation a 55 year old female from Belleville, New Jersey was placed under arrest for shoplifting, processed and released without incident.

5/8/2026 Theft
Patrol responded to a business on Irvington Avenue for a theft report. Stolen was approximately $40.00 in premium gasoline. The detective bureau was notified and investigating.

5/9/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to the area of Roland Avenue for a noise complaint. A landscaping company was observed working prior to the allowed start time for Saturday. As a result of the on scene investigation a landscaping company out of Union, New Jersey was issued a Special Complaint – Summons for the violation.

5/12/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to the area of Montrose Avenue for a gas powered leaf blower violation. An on scene investigation resulted in a landscaper being issued a Special Complaint – Summons.

5/12/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol observed a frozen dessert truck soliciting in the area of Grove Park. As a result of an inquiry into approved vendors the operator was issued a Special Complaint – Summons for Soliciting without a Permit.

5/12/2026 Arrest, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on Valley Street for a reported shoplifting. The actor was located a short distance away and was placed under arrest, processed, and released without incident. The actor, a 19 year old male from South Orange was charged with shoplifting.

5/12/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol observed an individual known to the Police Department from numerous interactions who was previously declared Persona Non Grata enter a prohibited business. The individual identified as Darryl Hunt was issued a Village Ordinance Violation for Defiant Trespassing.

5/13/2026 Fraud
Patrol responded to South Kingman Road for a fraud report. The caller related that she was defrauded approximately $29,000 after being duped into depositing the money into various BitCoin machines. The detective bureau was notified and investigating.

5/14/2026 Arrest, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business located on South Orange Avenue for a reported shoplifting. The male actor was observed fleeing the scene by the store staff and located a short time later by patrol. A show identification was conducted and resulted in the arrest of a 49 year old male from New York. The male was found to have been in possession of narcotics paraphernalia and had active warrants out of Maplewood, Millburn, and Newark, New Jersey. He was processed and released to the custody of Maplewood Police.

5/15/2026 Arrest, Hindering Apprehension
Patrol responded to Fairview Avenue for a village ordinance violation. Officers made contact with the female actor who provided officers’ with a false name. She was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters without incident.

5/15/2026 Arrest, DWI
Patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically on Valley Street. A motor vehicle stop was then initiated for the observed violations. The on scene investigation resulted in the arrest of a 50 year old Maplewood man for driving while intoxicated. He was issued several motor vehicle violations and released to a responsible adult.

5/18/2026 Arrest, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on Valley Street for a reported shoplifting on 5/17/2026. The actor had fled the area prior to police arrival. Security footage showed a male conceal a consumable item on his person before fleeing the scene. On 5/18/2026 patrol observed a male matching the description and appearance of the actor from the day prior. The on scene investigation resulted in the arrest of a 27 year old male from Newark for shoplifting. He was also found to have active warrants from Union Township.

5/18/2026 Theft
Patrol responded to a residence on Valley Street for a reported theft. The victim reported that her iPad was stolen out of her bag while at an event. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

5/18/2026 Theft, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on South Orange Avenue for a reported shoplifting. A white male actor was observed concealing items and passing the point of sale without paying for the items. The actor was scene entering a vehicle before fleeing the scene. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

5/24/2026 Burglary to Auto
Patrol responded to a residence on Seton Place after a caller related that there were multiple items unlawfully removed from her vehicle. The caller was unsure if the vehicle was secured at the time she had previously left it. Total proceeds taken totaled approximately $60.00.

5/26/2026 Arrest, DWI
Patrol observed a vehicle on South Orange Avenue crash against a tree. Contact was made with the driver, a 19 year old male from New York, who admitted consuming alcoholic beverages after officers’ detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. The male was processed and charged with numerous motor vehicle summonses including Driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages / while under age, refusal to submit to chemical testing, and careless driving. He was then released to a responsible adult.

5/26/2026 Theft(s) of Package
Patrol responded to two residences on Hillside Place for two thefts of separate packages. Victim observed via his security camera two black males in all black clothing riding on bicycles dismount. One of the males unlawfully took a package from the victim’s front porch while the other actor unlawfully took a separate package from their neighbor’s residence. The footage was forwarded to the detective bureau who is handling the investigation.

5/27/2026 Burglary to Auto
Patrol responded to a residence on Raymond Avenue for a burglary to a motor vehicle. Taken from two separate vehicles in the homeowners’ driveway were wallets containing bank cards, identification and personal effects. The detective bureau was notified.

5/28/2026 Auto Theft
Patrol responded to a residence on Raymond Avenue for a theft of a motor vehicle. The victim related he had parked his vehicle in his driveway overnight and when he returned the vehicle was no longer there. The perpetrator utilized a bank card to conduct multiple transactions in the City of Newark. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

5/28/2026 Robbery
Patrol responded to Vose Avenue for a robbery report that had occurred on Valley Street. The juvenile victim related that an unknown female actor approached her and unlawfully took her headphones before fleeing south on Valley Street. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

5/29/2026 Burglary, Attempted
Patrol responded to a residence on Montrose Avenue for an attempted burglary. The caller related observing on his security camera attempted to enter a vehicle in his driveway before being seen peering over his fence. The actor then fled the area. The detective bureau was notified and investigating.

5/29/2026 Burglary, Attempted
Patrol responded to a residence on Kingman Road for an attempted burglary. Caller related that he observed on his security camera an individual attempt to gain access to his home. The footage showed an actor wearing the same clothing as seen in previous incidents. Patrol later observed this individual who ignored police commands to stop, engaging in a foot pursuit. The actor dropped proceeds connected to several other thefts and burglaries before fleeing the area completely. The detective bureau was notified and investigating.

5/31/2026 Harassment
Patrol responded to the lobby of police headquarters for a walk in report of harassment. The victim related he met an individual via a dating app and exchanged nude photographs. The individual on the other end then began to threaten the victim. The victim ceased communication and responded to police headquarters to document the incident.
