Rishee Jackson
The Paterson Police Department arrested an individual within an hour after the incident took place thanks to a swift response and communication as soon as the call came in.
On June 4, 2026, at approximately 1:19 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to a reported home invasion in 300 block of Van Houten Street. Officers quickly arrived on scene, secured the area, and initiated an investigation. Detectives from the Major Crimes Division and members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to assist. Through investigative efforts, officers developed information that led to the identification and location of a suspect a short distance from the scene. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and positively identified during the course of the investigation.
The suspect was identified as Rishee Jackson, 47, of Paterson, New Jersey.
Jackson is charged with first-degree home invasion, third-degree theft, and third-degree terroristic threats.
Under New Jersey law, a first-degree crime is punishable by 10 to 20 years in state prison and a fine of up to $200,000, while a third-degree crime is punishable by 3 to 5 years in state prison and a fine of up to $15,000.
“There is a saying in policing that seconds matter, and these officers did not waste a single one in their investigation and apprehension of the suspect,” said Officer in Charge Murray. “Home invasions are among the most serious crimes we investigate because they violate the safety and security people expect in their own home. I commend every officer involved for their fast and diligent work on this case. When our residents call for help, the men and women of the Paterson Police Department respond with urgency and determination, and this case is a strong example of that dedication.”
The charges against the defendant are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
This case is being prosecuted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
