Officers responded to a welfare check at Seton Hall University after an employee was found lying on the floor of his room and unable to get up. The individual reported falling while attempting to get out of bed and complained of head and lower back pain. The South Orange Rescue Squad transported him to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle receiving a car wash and leaving the business without paying. The vehicle was later identified, and the owner was contacted regarding the incident. The matter was resolved when the payment for the service was later made.
03/21/26 Burglary
Officers responded to Montrose Ave on a report of an attempted burglary in progress. Officers arrived on scene and observed a vehicle idling in front of the residence and one suspect fleeing the area. The vehicle was secured and later found to be a stolen vehicle from Newark. Two more suspects were seen fleeing the area through backyards. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects. A second call came in to police headquarters relating the same individuals had returned to the scene. Units responded back to the area and after a foot pursuit two of the three individuals were caught and taken into custody. The two actors were arrested processed and taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility without incident. Entry was not gained to the residence but there was damage to a window in which the actors were attempting to gain access through.
03/26/26 Medical Emergency
Officers responded to a residence for a report of an unresponsive individual. Officers initiated CPR until EMS and advanced life support personnel arrived on scene. The individual was later pronounced deceased, and the incident was reported to the Essex County Medical Examiner’s Office.
03/27/26 Package Theft Investigation
A resident reported that a package containing prescription medication was stolen from the front porch of his residence after it had been delivered. Surveillance footage reportedly showed an unknown individual removing the package the following day. The incident was documented and the video footage was forwarded to the detective bureau for review.
03/29/26 Criminal Mischief – Centre Street
A resident reported discovering a large scratch along the passenger side of her vehicle after it had been parked overnight in her driveway. Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Crest Drive after a homeowner reported an intruder inside the home. The suspect fled through a window and was last seen leaving the area in a white SUV. No items were reported stolen, and the investigation is an ongoing multijurisdictional investigation.

Officers responded to a report of a package theft after surveillance footage showed an individual removing a delivered package from a residence and leaving in a blue SUV. Through investigation and license plate reader data, officers identified and later located the suspect. The individual was arrested and charged with theft of a package and possession of drug paraphernalia.
