
Theft
03/30/2026-The complainant responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a Theft from Auto that occurred in the area of Elm Street. The complainant left her vehicle parked and unlocked while she moved some items. The complainant then noticed that her purse was missing from the vehicle. The purse contained her cellphone, credit and debit cards, NJ driver’s license and $130.00. This incident is under investigation.
03/31/2026-Officers responded to 17 Belleville Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the complainant, a female filled a tote bag and shopping cart with various items then left the store without paying. The female was observed entering a vehicle waiting in the parking lot. This incident is under investigation.
03/31/2026-Officers responded to the area of Leo Terrace and West Passaic Avenue on report of a Theft. According to a resident, an SUV was traveling the wrong way on Leo Terrace. After the resident gained the driver’s attention, the female passenger explained they were lost. The female then offered the complainant a “gift” for helping them. The female passenger then placed a gold chain, gold bracelet, and gold ring on the complainant. Later, the complainant noticed his gold chain was taken from his neck during the interaction. This incident is under investigation.
03/31/2026-Officers responded to 357 Broad Street (Quick Chek) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, a large group of juveniles were in the store and one was observed taking two empanadas and a bottle of water. This incident is under investigation.
03/31/2026-Officers responded to 17 Belleville Avenue (Walgreens) on a report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male placed various items in his jacket then left the store without paying. This incident is under investigation.
03/31/2026-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a Theft from Auto that occurred in the area of State Street. The resident parked her vehicle near the residence overnight and left it unlocked. The resident then noticed that her wallet was missing from the vehicle. The wallet contained a NJ driver’s license, credit and debit cards, and $300.00 cash. This incident is under investigation.
04/01/2026-Officers responded to 90 Broad Street (Bloomfield Public Library) on report of a Theft from Auto. The complainant parked his vehicle in the lot and left it unlocked. When he returned, he noticed his Google Chromebook, a wallet, a NJ driver’s license, credit and debit cards were missing from the vehicle. This incident is under investigation.
04/01/2026-Esemerlin Baez age 39 of Newark NJ and Juvenile Male age 15 of Newark NJ. While investigating an unrelated incident at 1409 Broad Street (Shop Rite), Detectives along with the Loss Prevention Officer observed a male and his juvenile son fill two shopping carts full of various grocery items. The male paid for some items, then instructed his son to exit the store with the other unpaid items. The suspects were arrested and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
04/03/2026-Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the store manager, on 04/02/2026, a male concealed multiple health-care items in a bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $2505.68. This incident is under investigation.
04/03/2026-Jamie Hammill age 35. Officers responded to 331 Broad Street (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a female concealed several items in her bag then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $391.43. Officers located the suspect nearby and placed her under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.
04/03/2026-Officers responded to the 500 block of Watchung Avenue on report of a Package Theft. A resident had a package delivered to her front porch at 2:02p.m. She then observed a male exiting her backyard at 3:07p.m. who stated he worked for Amazon. The resident then discovered her Amazon package ripped opened in her backyard. This incident is under investigation.
04/04/2026-Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, a male filled a bag with fabric softener and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $119.80. This incident is under investigation.
04/04/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshalls) on report of a Shoplifting. According to a store employee, on 04/09/2026, two males took numerous items then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $1839.61. This incident is under investigation.
04/05/2026-Officers responded to the area of Claremont Street on report of an attempt Theft from Auto. A resident noticed that his vehicle was rummaged through. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle at this time. This incident is under investigation.
04/05/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of Willard Avenue on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident noticed the passenger side door of his vehicle was open and the vehicle was rummaged through. Some loose change was missing from the vehicle. This incident is under investigation.
04/05/2026-Officers responded to the area of Winding Lane on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked his vehicle on the street overnight and the following day he noticed his bookbag was missing from the vehicle. The bookbag contained a laptop, various paperwork, identification and $2000.00. This incident is under investigation.
Burglary
03/30/2026-Officers responded to the area of Newark Avenue on report of a Burglary. According to a resident, the home alarm was activated and three males were observed fleeing the area in a white Infiniti SUV. After video surveillance footage was reviewed, it was determined that one suspect pushed in the side window and entered the residence. Once inside, the suspect then opened the front door for the other two suspects. The suspects fled once the alarm sounded. This incident is under investigation.
04/05/2026-Officers responded to the 200 block of Stonehouse Road on report of a Burglary. According to a resident, three males gained entry into his residence. After video surveillance footage was reviewed, it was determined that the three suspects parked in front of the residence and all three males entered the residence through the living room window. A wallet, Apple watch and $20,000.00 was taken from the residence. This incident is under investigation.
Robbery
04/05/2026-Officers responded to 147 Bloomfield Avenue (Wendy’s) on report of a Robbery. The complainant posted a gold chain on Facebook Marketplace and was set to meet the buyer in the Wendy’s parking lot. The complainant allowed the buyer to hold the chain to inspect it. The male then pepper sprayed the complainant and fled the area. The chain was valued at $6500.00 This incident is under investigation.
These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
