Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and West Milford Police Department Chief Shannon Sommerville announce that Mr. Jay Boone, 54 years old from Ogdensburg, NJ was arrested on March 26, 2026, after an investigation by the West Milford Police Department. Jay Boone is charged with two counts of Third-Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a(7)(b) and 2C:14-3a(7)(c).
At approximately 4:52 PM, on February 26, 2026, members of the West Milford Police Department were dispatched to a residential facility located in the area of Oak Ridge Road and Paradise Road in West Milford, New Jersey. Upon their arrival, officers learned that a 40-year-old incapacitated woman from Ringwood, New Jersey, had been forced to have unwanted sexual contact with a male employee on two occasions on February 26, 2026. Based on the investigation, Jay Boone was identified as the actor and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Boone was arrested at the West Milford Police Headquarters after he turned himself in at approximately 12:30 pm on March 26, 2026.
The sentencing exposure for Jay Boone on each count of third degree aggravated criminal sexual contact is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pretrial detention and is asking that Mr. Boone be detained in County Jail pending the resolution of the case. The detention motion will be scheduled at a date and time to be determined by the Court.
A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite the accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, in a court of law.
