The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Just after 1:50 a.m., the Union City Police Department was notified of an altercation/shots fired in the area of Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street. Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as David Pulgarin, 42, of North Bergen – with an apparent gunshot wound(s). He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 a.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
This matter is being investigated by the Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
