2/1/2026 Theft
Patrol responded to Seton Hall University for a theft report. It was reported a vehicle had left campus with a parking barnacle still affixed to its windshield due to a parking violation. Patrol located the parking barnacle a short distance away. The detective bureau is investigating the matter further.

2/2/2026 Theft
Patrol responded to a residence on Vose Avenue for a theft report. Taken was a package with its contents valued at $742.59. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

2/2/2026 Theft, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a Valley Street business for a theft report. Taken from the store was a winter hat from a store display valued at approximately $17.99. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

2/3/2026 Warrant Arrest
Patrol responded to Union Police Headquarters and transported an adult female to the Essex County Correctional Facility on an outstanding warrant out of South Orange.

2/3/2026 Disturbance
Patrol responded to a Scotland Road business for a reported disturbance between a client and staff. As a result of the on scene investigation a 44 year old West Orange male was declared Persona Non Grata from the location.

2/3/2026 Fraud
Patrol responded to Coudert Place for a fraud report. Victim reported he was the victim of an online scam where he sent electronically $8,500. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

2/4/2026 Arrest, Theft
An officer conducting a directed patrol of West South Orange Avenue observed an individual running towards the rear of the Exxon Gas Station holding a jar with the word “Tips” displayed which was found to have been stolen from a restaurant on West South Orange Avenue. The individual was stopped and resulted in the arrest of a 19 year old male for theft.

2/5/2026 Warrant Arrest
An officer on patrol initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of South Orange Avenue and Centre Street for a vehicle that failed to observe a traffic control device. As a result of the on scene investigation a 22 year old female was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant out of the Morris Plains, New Jersey. She was later turned over to the custody of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.

2/5/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to Turrell Avenue for a village ordinance violation. Caller reported observing an unknown individual removing recyclables from household bins in violation of South Orange Village Ordinance 294-4. A 41 year old Irvington female was issued a Special Complaint-Summons without incident.

2/6/2026 Theft, Shoplifting Arrest
Patrol responded to a business on Valley Street for a report of a shoplifting. An individual within the store was observed concealing a candy bar on his person before exiting the store without paying. The individual, a 25 year old Jersey City male was later placed under arrest by patrol and was found to have an active warrant out of Jersey City. The individual was released on his own recognizance.

2/8/2026 Burglary, Attempted
Patrol responded to a residence on Montrose Avenue for an attempted burglary. Two unknown individuals were observed attempted to gain entry into the residence before fleeing south on Woodland Place. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

2/11/2026 Burglary, Attempted
Patrol responded to a home on Speir Drive for an attempted burglary. The reporting party observed three unknown actors wearing gloves attempting to gain access to their home via the garage door. The actors fled prior to arrival of officers. The detective bureau was notified and is investigating.

2/11/2026 Warrant Arrest
Detectives on patrol observed a wanted individual while conducting a directed patrol of Valley Street. The individual was confirmed to be wanted and was placed under arrest without incident. The individual was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and was charged accordingly. Custody of this individual was then turned over to the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.

2/12/2026 Attempted Fraud
Patrol responded to a business on South Orange Avenue after it was reported an unknown male attempted to make a purchase with a counterfeit $100.00 bill. The male was not on scene at the time patrol arrived.

2/12/2026 Fraud
Patrol responded to a bank on Valley Street for a fraud report. Bank personnel reported a total loss of $4,600 from multiple fraudulent transactions. The detective bureau is investigating.

2/12/2026 Arrest
Patrol responded to the area of Riggs Place and Irvington Avenue for a disturbance. After the on scene investigation it was determined a female driving her vehicle failed to yield for pedestrians in the roadway, exited her vehicle and prompted a physical altercation. The female was placed under arrest without incident. She was charged with simple assault and released after being served on a Complaint – Summons.

2/13/2026 Theft, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on Valley Street for a report of a shoplifting. Officers located and detained a subject matching the description. During the course of the investigation the subject began suffering a medical episode. He was then transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center to seek treatment. The subject was discovered to be wanted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office. Both agencies were notified.

2/13/2026 Burglary
Patrol responded to a residence on Arnold Terrace for a home invasion burglary. Victims reported multiple actors forced entry through the rear door of the home and threatened the occupants. The actors then entered an unknown vehicle that was parked in the driveway before fleeing toward Valley Street. The detective bureau was notified and responded.

2/14/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to Sloan Street for a reported village ordinance violation. During the course of the investigation, the actor committed a separate village ordinance violation within the presence of officers. The actor was then issued a village ordinance violation for littering.

2/15/2026 Auto Theft
Patrol responded to Academy Street for a report of auto theft. The owner of the vehicle related he left his vehicle on to warm up and returned three minutes later to discover it was missing. The detective bureau is investigating.

2/16/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol observed an individual known from previous village ordinance violations soliciting without a permit. As a result the individual was issued a Special – Complaint Summons.

2/16/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol observed an individual known from previous village ordinance violations solicit an individual on Sloan Street. The individual was then issued a Special Complaint – Summons for soliciting without a permit. This individual was then observed urinating within the presence of Patrol underneath the train station and was issued a subsequent Special Complaint – Summons prior to vacating the area.

2/17/2026 Arrest, Trespassing
Patrol responded to a business on Sloan Street for a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival the trespasser was located and was previously advised multiple times of his Persona Non Grata status at the business. The individual was subsequently placed under arrest without incident.

2/17/2026 Village Ordinance Violation
Patrol responded to the area of Audley Street and Walton Ave for a village ordinance violation. Caller reported there were two individuals going door to door soliciting. Patrol located the couple and discovered that they were not in possession of a soliciting permit. The two individuals were issued each a Special Complaint – Summons for solicitation without a permit.

2/19/2026 Arrest, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on South Orange Avenue for a shoplifting. Responding officers located the actor on Valley Street. As a result of the on scene investigation a 50 year old male was placed under arrest for shoplifting. The male party was also found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and was charged accordingly prior to being released on his own recognizance.

2/21/2026 Arrest, Shoplifting
Patrol responded to a business on Valley Street for a reported shoplifting. The on scene investigation resulted in the arrest of a 74 year old male without incident. He was processed and released on his own recognizance.

2/22/2026 Arrest, DWI
Patrol responded to the area of Academy Street and Fifth Street after receiving numerous 9-1-1 calls for a motor vehicle crash. The on scene investigation resulted in the arrest of a 37 year old Union man for driving while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible adult.

2/23/2026 Missing Person Located
Patrol responded to the area of Scotland Road after it was reported that an individual was walking barefoot in the street. The person was located and was found to be missing out of Bloomfield, New Jersey. The individual was transported to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for treatment.

2/23/2026 Simple Assault
Patrol responded to the area of Second Street in between Valley Street and Sloan Street for a reported assault against a South Orange Department of Public Works employee. Patrol spoke with all involved and referred the parties to the courts for further pursuance if they wished.
