Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 28-year-old MARKOS C. ALPAR of New Milford, NJ on the charges of producing child sexual abuse material, possession of child sexual abuse material, obscenity to a minor, impairing or debauching the morals of a child, and lewdness. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer.
On Friday, February 20, 2026, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit conducted a search warrant at the residence of MARKOS C. ALPAR during the course of a months-long online child endangerment and child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that ALPAR used the Internet to view, download, or possess items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children. In addition, ALPAR was found to have engaged in online sexual chats with a juvenile in December 2024 to January 2025. During the chats, ALPAR exposed his genitalia to the juvenile while communicating online. He also instructed the juvenile to produce and send him sexual photos and/or videos of the child’s intimate parts.
As a result of the investigation, MARKOS C. ALPAR was arrested on February 20, 2026, and charged with first-degree production of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)3; third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(iii); third-degree obscenity to a minor, N.J.S.A. 2C:34-3b(1); third-degree impairing or debauching the morals of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1); and lewdness, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4a, a disorderly persons offense. ALPAR was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, made a first appearance, and remains in custody pending a detention hearing to be heard in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the New Milford Police Department and the Oak Ridge (TN) Police Department for their assistance in this investigation. Additionally, he also thanks and acknowledges the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Hackensack Police Department, Hasbrouck Heights Police Department, Norwood Police Department, Waldwick Police Department, and Washington Township Police Department, which all participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
