Theft
02/02/2026-Samad Bishop age 31 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male took multiple packs of batteries and a heat gun then attempted to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $574.08. The suspect was apprehended by the Loss Prevention Officer. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

02/05/2026-Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshall’s) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male took sneakers and two hats then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $127.97. This incident is under investigation.

02/05/2026-Officers responded to the 100 block of Newark Avenue on report of a Theft. According to a resident, the home health aide went upstairs to use the bathroom. About one hour later, the resident found her safe open and five rings and a gold bracelet were missing. The items were valued at $25,000.00. This incident is under investigation.

02/06/2026-Officers responded to 250 Glenwood Avenue (CVS) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female took hair, dental and beauty products then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $315.42. This incident is under investigation.

02/07/2026-Officers responded to 135 Bloomfield Avenue (Staples) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male took cookies and coffee and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $139.50. This incident is under investigation.

02/07/2026-David Graham age 55 of Newark NJ. Officers responded to 8-12 Franklin Street (Marshall’s) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a male took several pairs of sneakers and attempted to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $445.46. Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

02/07/2026-Officers responded to 17 Belleville Avenue (Walgreens) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a female took grocery and beauty items then left the store without paying. The items were valued at $200.00. This incident is under investigation.

02/08/2026-Edward Ward age 59 of East Orange NJ. Officers responded to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-Eleven) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the complainant, a male concealed a cake and pastry then attempted to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $3.29. The suspect was apprehended and placed under arrest. The suspect was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

Motor Vehicle Theft
02/08/2026-Officers responded to 222 Bloomfield Avenue (Pizza Hut) on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident went inside the restaurant to pick up food and when he returned he noticed his vehicle was missing. The vehicle was left unlocked and running. The vehicle, a black 2018 BMW X3, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.


These incidents are currently being investigated by Bloomfield Detectives. Due to the on-going investigations, information will not be released at this time. The information is released to the press at the discretion of the police department and may not represent the total scope of police activity. All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
