Omire Rios-Williams
On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, the Honorable Nesle Rodriguez imposed consecutive life sentences in New Jersey State Prison against Omire Rios-Williams in connection with a double fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City in 2021.
Rios-Williams, 24, of Jersey City, was convicted at trial of two counts of Murder, one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, four counts of Attempted Murder, four counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in New Jersey State Prison for each Murder count. Four 18-year sentences relating to the Attempted Murder charges and a 5-year sentence relating to the weapons offenses will run concurrent to the first life sentence.
His codefendant, Cooleone McNeil, 25, of Bayonne, was convicted at trial of first degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder. He was sentenced to 18 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act.
Shortly before 11 p.m. on May 21, 2021, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Crescent Avenue and Brinkerhoff Street. Responding officers located six victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Two of the victims – later identified as Jason Crutcher, 26, and Randolph Black Jr., 25, both of Jersey City – were pronounced dead as a result of their injuries. The four remaining victims suffered nonfatal injuries.
Rios-Williams was additionally sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act after pleading guilty to one count of Aggravated Manslaughter relating to the fatal shooting of Emmanuel Garcia in Jersey City on May 3, 2021.
