
Sussex County is currently accepting applications from residents interested in serving as First Alternate and Second Alternate members of the Sussex County Planning Board.
The Planning Board plays an important role in shaping the County’s growth and development. Under the New Jersey County Planning Act, the Board is responsible for:
- Preparing and maintaining the County Master Plan to guide long-range planning and development
- Advising the Board of County Commissioners on the County Official Map, including roads, parks, public facilities, and infrastructure
- Review of all subdivision applications within the county and approve those that affect County roads or drainage systems
- Review of most site plan applications for development and approve those along County roads or impacting County drainage facilities
Alternate members serve when regular members are unavailable and are expected to actively participate in meetings and application reviews. Appointments are for three-year terms.
Meeting Schedule: 1st Monday of each month at 4:00 PM
