11 College Drive, Jersey City, NJ
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department are investigating a fatal fire that occurred on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
At approximately, 8:45 p.m., the Jersey City Fire Department was notified of a smoke condition at 11 College Drive. Upon arrival, first responders located heavy smoke coming from a fifth floor unit of the five story building. During suppression activities, firefighters located an unresponsive female, later identified as Maxine Sullivan, 85, of Jersey City. She was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 10 p.m.
This matter is under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department. The fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
