Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 36-year-old CHRISTIAN D. PARRA-PESCOSO of Englewood, NJ on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, and possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Deputy Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Englewood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at approximately 3:52 a.m., the Englewood Police Department responded to a shooting at a private residence on Charles Street. Upon arrival, responding officers located an adult female victim who was struck by gunfire that injured her arm and shoulder. The victim was transported to HMH Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries where she remains hospitalized in stable condition. A suspect, later fully identified as CHRISTIAN D. PARRA-PESCOSO, was taken into custody at the scene by Englewood Police Officers.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit were notified, responded, and initiated a joint investigation into the incident. The joint investigation revealed that PARRA-PESCOSO assaulted the victim by striking her with the handgun, causing a laceration to her head, and by firing the weapon multiple times, ultimately striking the victim once.

As a result of the investigation, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, CHRISTIAN D. PARRA-PESCOSO was charged with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1A(1)/2C:11-3A(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A; third-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12- 1b(2); and fourth-degree possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3J. PARRA-PESCOSO was transported to Englewood Health Hospital & Medical Center for a medical evaluation before being remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
