Four Wood-Ridge Residents Charged In Narcotic Investigation

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of 31-year-old TYRONE S. FROST, of Wood-Ridge, NJ; 28-year-old JACHAI RICE, of Wood-Ridge, NJ; 38-year-old MEGHAN SCHENKENBERGER of Wood-Ridge, NJ; and 25-year-old ANTHONY N. SMITH of Wood-Ridge, NJ on various drug and weapon offenses. These arrests are the result of a months-long narcotic investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Deputy Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Wood-Ridge Police Department, under the direction of Chief Michael O’Donnell.

In May 2025, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force and the Wood-Ridge Police Department initiated a narcotics investigation in Wood-Ridge, NJ. During the weeks and months ahead, detectives determined that the occupants of a private residence on 7th Street were involved in illegal drug activity.

On Friday, December 19, 2025, with the assistance of the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force and the Wood-Ridge Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence. Detectives located and seized various types of illegal drugs, including Heroin, Crack Cocaine, Morphine Pills, Oxycodone Pills, and Xanax Pills. Additionally, detectives recovered a handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition. As a result of the investigation, TYRONE S. FROST, JACHAI RICE, MEGHAN SCHENKENBERGER, and ANTHONY N. SMITH were placed under arrest at the residence in question.

TYRONE S. FROST was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(A)1.

JACHAI RICE was charged with second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1); second-degree possession of a firearm while in possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a; third-degree certain person not to possess a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7(B)1; third-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(13); third-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(3); third-degree possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(3); and fourth-degree possession of hollow point ammunition, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3(f).

MEGHAN SCHENKENBERGER was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(A)1.

ANTHONY N. SMITH was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(A)1.

TYRONE S. FROST and JACHAI RICE were remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ. MEGHAN SCHENKENBERGER and ANTHONY SMITH were released on their own recognizance pending further court action.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella would like to thank and recognize the Wood-Ridge Police Department and the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team for their assistance in this investigation, along with the Garfield Police Department and the North Arlington Police Department, which both participate in the Bergen County Narcotic Task Force.
