On August 31, 2025, Secaucus Police Officers came under attack during a “street takeover” at the intersection of Secaucus Road and County Avenue. Numerous vehicles drove with reckless abandon while some passengers were sitting on exterior portions of the vehicle. Additionally, one of the vehicles struck onlookers when a driver lost partial control. During the incident, participants exploded pyrotechnics at and under a marked Secaucus Police vehicle while the officer was inside the vehicle. Other participants jumped onto the hood of the police vehicle causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.
The Secaucus Police Planning and Intelligence Section, Anti-Crime Unit, and Traffic Bureau immediately undertook an investigation. The Secaucus Police Department began working collaboratively with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and the FBI.
On Monday, October 6, 2025, members of the Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit, Patrol and Detective Divisions, and Traffic Bureau arrested four (4) drivers of the vehicles who were driving recklessly in the intersection on August 31, 2025. Raphael I. Coronel-Palacios, 21, of Roselle Park, Kyle Pound, 23, of Matawan, Joseph Miele, 22, of Jackson and Louis Mercado, 18, of South Amboy were each charged with Riot – Public Brawl to Incite Disorderly Conduct [2C:33-1c], Recklessly Creating a Risk of Widespread Injury [2C:17-2c] and Endangering Another Person [2C:24-7.1a(2)] along with numerous motor vehicle summonses. With the exception of, Kyle Pound, each were issued their summonses and released pending their appearance in Court. Kyle Pound was turned over to the Robbinsville Police Department on an active warrant for his arrest on charges stemming from him striking and injuring an onlooker with his vehicle during a “street takeover” in Robbinsville.
At the time of their arrests, three vehicles involved in the incident were seized by the Secaucus Police Department. The vehicles are described as a 2004 Lexus, 2017 BMW, and a 1992 Mazda.
In December of 2025, the following individuals were all charged by complaint summons with Riot – Public Brawl to Incite Disorderly Conduct [2C:33-1c] for their involvement on August 31, 2025: Mario I. Cruz, 20, of Morganville, NJ, Geovanni J. Twiggs, 24, of South Amboy, NJ, Jameson P. Healey, 19, of Parlin, NJ, Ezzaddin Alsaedi, 26, of Bronx, NY, Mutasim F. Alsaidi, 20, of Bronx, NY, Gabriel Tevis, 21, of Virginia Beach, VA, Rahjel Conze, 20, of Glen Cove, NY, and Isaiah Deleon, 25, of Queens, NY. Gabriel Tevis and Isaiah Deleon are also charged with Recklessly Creating a Risk of Widespread Injury [2C:17-2c] and Endangering another Person [2C:24-7.1a(3)]. Rahjel Conze is also charged with Criminal Mischief [2C:17-3a(1)] and Obstructing the Administration of Law [2C:29-1a].
A now 18 year old male of East Brunswick was charged on a Juvenile Complaint with Riot – Public Brawl to Incite Disorderly Conduct [2C:33-1c]. A now 18 year old male of Shirley, NY was charged on a Juvenile Complaint with Riot – Public Brawl to Incite Disorderly Conduct [2C:33-1c], Criminal Mischief [2C:17-3a(1)] and Obstructing the Administration of Law [2C:29-1a].
Additionally, the Secaucus Police Traffic Bureau issued thirty-three (33) motor vehicle summonses to the registered owners for equipment violations on vehicles that participated in the street takeover on August 31, 2025.
“In August, I vowed that Secaucus Police Department would hold those accountable for putting my officers’ lives at risk, and I hope the message is clear: if you come to Secaucus and put others in harm’s way, we will hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “The various units of the Secaucus Police Department worked as swiftly as possibly to file these charges while working within the confines of the law and our constitution. I would like to thank and commend Deputy Chief Martin Moreda for spearheading this investigation. I also want to praise our Planning and Intelligence Section under the leadership of Captain Kimberly Elphick, our Anti-Crime Unit under the supervision of Detective Sergeant Joseph Fuardo, our Traffic Bureau under the leadership of Lieutenant Giacomo Sallustio, Executive Assistant Prosecutor Keith Travers and Assistant Prosecutor Max Bosco of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance throughout this investigation.”
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may follow.
