Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information related to a death investigation at the Tenafly Nature Center that began on Thursday, November 20, 2025. This investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Tenafly Police Department, under the direction of Chief Robert Chamberlain.
On Thursday, November 20, 2025, at approximately 2 p.m., a hiker observed the body of a deceased male at the Tenafly Nature Center and called police. Upon arrival, officers from the Tenafly Police Department located the deceased male in a wooded area within the Nature Center and notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit. Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene and initiated a joint investigation. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations was also notified and responded to assist.
The deceased male has been identified as 64-year-old Robert Wolmer of Tenafly, NJ. The investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Tenafly Police Department revealed that the death does not appear suspicious in nature.
