Hudson County Correctional Facility, Hackensack Ave, Kearny, NJ
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate that occurred at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
At approximately 7:40 a.m., members of the Hudson County Correctional Facility located an unresponsive male inmate within his cell. Officers and onsite medical personnel immediately rendered aid to the inmate, later identified as John Finucane, 32, of Jersey City. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 a.m.
In accordance with guidelines by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the NJOAG was immediately notified. This matter remains under investigation.
