
1. On July 24, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Police Officer Nicholas Protopapadakis was waived down by a bystander on the 50 block of Hudson Street to tell him a person was sleeping in a vehicle with the engine running. The officer attempted to wake up the individual, later identified as 20-year-old Zander Samuels of Jersey City, by knocking on the window and observed him hunched over at the wheel. When he woke up, Samuels looked dazed and confused. Additionally, his speech was slurred, his eyes bloodshot, and there was vomit on his clothing. Sgt. Daniel Grossi arrived on the scene to conduct a standardized field sobriety test, after which Samuels was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Police Officers Ahmed Makshat and Michael Aviles arrived on the scene. Samuels was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters where he refused to provide breath samples. A search of his car located two open alcoholic containers. Zander was issued summonses for driving under the influence, failure to exhibit a driver's license, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, failure to consent to breath samples, reckless driving, improper parking, and underage driving under the influence. As per John’s Law, Samuels was released into the custody of a responsible party.
2. On July 24, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Police Officers Jairo De La Cruz and Leroy Sherrill responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting where the actor, later identified as 51-year-old Felipe Realpe of Jersey City, was seen trying to leave with $35.13 in merchandise he didn’t pay for. Store security stopped him before he left. Realpe was arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
3. On July 25, 2025, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Detective Paul Quinn was conducting a detail check near the intersection of Seventh and Madison Streets when he observed an individual, later identified as 19-year-old Valentina Fitzpatrick of Hoboken, who appeared to be highly intoxicated. Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Frank Losurdo arrived on scene to assist. Due to her highly intoxicated state, Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps was called to the scene to treat Fitzpatrick and transport her to the hospital. She refused to get into the ambulance and threw herself on the ground. As officers attempted to pick her up and secure her to a stretcher, Fitzpatrick punched one of the offers in the arm. She was issued a summons for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and released into the custody of an area hospital.
4. On July 25, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Police Officers Marco Grossman, Christopher Hatfield, and Ramon Estrella responded to Crunch Gym, 110 Sinatra Dr., on reports of a dispute. An on-scene investigation determined an individual, later identified as 35-year-old David Roberts of Hoboken, slapped another individual during an argument. Sgt. James Barbro arrived on the scene to assist. Roberts was issued a summons for simple assault and released from the scene with a court date.
5. On July 25, 2025, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Sgt. Harold Milne, Sgt. Quinones, and Police Officers William Vera, Capogna, Comayagua, Miranda, and Graziano responded to Lululemon, 313 Washington St., on reports of a possible shoplifting involving two individuals. When they arrived, officers observed two people who fit the description of the actors leaving the store carrying multiple items including clothing still on the hangers with tags attached. An on-scene investigation revealed that both individuals, identified as 44-year-old Fermin Taveras of Queens Village, NY and 31-year-old Shaqueena Beard of New York City, had taken the merchandise, worth a total of $2,249, and left without paying. They were both arrested for shoplifting and conspiracy to shoplift and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. It was discovered Taveras was wanted on a warrant out of Georgia. Taveras and Beard were processed and released on summonses.
6. On July 25, 2025, at approximately 7:35 p.m., while on an outside employment job at the intersection of 14th and Garden Streets, Police Officer Christopher Barral observed an individual defacing a traffic signal by writing on it in permanent market. Police Officers Valentino Salgado, Ahmed Makshat, Nasir Willey, and Marc Lombardi arrived on the scene to assist. The man was identified as 59-year-old Michael Farrar of Hoboken, and he was issued a summons for defacing a traffic signal before being released on the scene.
7. On July 26, 2025, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Police Officers Nasir Willey and Christopher Soto were on the patrol, on the 100 block of Washington Street, when a vehicle pulled out of a parking spot aggressively and almost hit their patrol car. They pulled the car over and as they approached, observed a bottle of tequila in the cup holder. While speaking to the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Joniyah Cardenas of Linden, the officers smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath. Police Officer Domenick Allegretta responded to conduct a standardized field sobriety test, after which Cardenas was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving. As per John’s Law, she was released into the custody of a responsible party.
8. On July 26, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Police Officer Vincent Guastini responded to Pier 13, 1301 Sinatra Dr., on reports of a dispute. When he arrived, bystanders pointed at an individual, later identified as 41-year-old Bruno Bernet of Saddle River, who was screaming at security staff and waving his arms around in an aggressive state. Sgt. Dennis Figueroa and Police Officers Enrico Gnassi and David Smentkowski arrived on the scene to assist. An on-scene investigation determined Bernet was asked to leave the establishment by employees due to boisterous and disorderly behavior. Bernet continued to scream and curse. At one point he screamed and pointed his finger at the face of an officer. He was told if he didn’t leave, he would be arrested. He challenged an officer to a fight, and he was arrested for disorderly conduct. Bernet was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released with a summons.
9. On July 27, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Sgt. Michael Straten was on patrol in the area of First Street and Sinatra Drive when he observed several vehicles stopped in the roadway, due to one blocking others from passing. That vehicle moved, allowing traffic to pass. Sgt. Straten pulled the vehicle over and it was discovered the registration had expired, and the registered owner, identified as 24-yer-old Wenyu Wu of New Brunswick, had an expired license. When she was asked for documentation, she opened the glove compartment, and the Seargeant was able to see what appeared to be a revolver handgun. Wu was ordered to exit the vehicle. Sgt. Dennis Figueroa and Police Officers David Smentkowski, Frank Losurdo, David Ortiz, and Anish Bhisey arrived on the scene to assist. A search of the car located a box of capsules commonly used for airsoft weapons and a used target. Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Brandon Cappelluti arrived on the scene. Wu was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing. She was charged with unlawful possession of weapons and issued motor vehicle summonses for obstructing traffic, unregistered vehicle, and unlicensed driver. She was released from custody on summons.
10. On July 27, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller, Michael Chen, and Christopher Soto responded to Basile's Pizza, 89 Washington St., on reports of a disorderly individual. An on-scene investigation revealed that a man, later identified as 41-year-old Terrance Davis of Jersey City, had assaulted another individual in the days prior to the call. Davis was charged with simple assault, issued a summons, and released.
11. On July 28, 2025, at approximately 7:40 p.m.., Police Officer Arturo Gonzalez responded to ShopRite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting, where the actor was in custody of store security. Police Officer Ramon Estrella also responded. An on-scene investigation revealed a woman, later identified as 61-year-old Lucrecia Figueroa of Fairview, had attempted to hide several items worth a total of approximately $300 in a tote bag, and only paid for a few before trying to leave the store. She was arrested for shoplifting and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. After being processed, Figueroa was released with a summons.
12. On July 28, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Sgt. Daniel Grossi observed a vehicle improperly parked near the intersection of Third and Garden Streets, with the engine running. When he activated his overhead lights and sirens, the driver began to move the vehicle and tried to park in between delineators. Sgt. Grossi initiated a motor vehicle stop and as he approached the vehicle, he could see an empty bottle of vodka in the back seat. He also observed the driver, later identified as 38-year-old Rey Palestina-Carrada of Monroe, NY, to have a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. He also had slurred speech and was rambling random words. Sgt. Harold Milne, Sgt. John Quinones, and Police Officers Thomas Graziano, William Vera, Michael Miranda, and Ryan Capogna arrived on the scene to assist. A field sobriety test was conducted which determined that Palestina-Carrada was impaired, and he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, and it was discovered he had a warrant out of Jersey City. After being processed, Palestina-Carrada was transported to the Jersey City Police Department.
13. On July 29, 2025, at approximately 8:25 a.m., Police Officers Bianca Arroyo and Remy Garcia-Marte responded to the Hoboken Shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., on reports of an altercation. An on-scene investigation determined an individual, later identified as 33-year-old Christina Castellano of Hoboken, tried to hit a man during an argument. While defending himself, the man ended up hitting Castellano. Castellano signed a civilian complaint against the man, which was forwarded to municipal court. Castellano was issued a summons for simple assault and released on the scene.
14. On July 29, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez was on detail at Church Square Park when he heard a loud bang coming from the area of Fourth Street and Park Avenue. He observed an individual he could identify as 51-year-old Chuey Quintana of Hoboken, hit an SUV on the rear driver's side. The car drove off, but Quintana continued to yell at passersby and patrons of a nearby outdoor restaurant. Police Officer William Oquendo arrived on the scene to assist. Quintana continued to yell and curse at people walking by, despite being told to stop his conduct. He was arrested for disorderly conduct, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and ultimately released with a summons.
