Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 26-year-old QURISTAFER D. LAND of Dallas, TX, on charges of production of child sexual abuse material, aggravated sexual extortion, sexual extortion, and impersonation. The arrest is the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, and the Lyndhurst Police Department, under the direction of Chief Richard L. Jarvis.
In April 2025, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received information from the Lyndhurst Police Department regarding possible acts of online sexual extortion. Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit initiated an investigation and determined that an online stranger contacted an adult and a child via the social media application Snapchat. The preliminary investigation revealed that, over the course of the previous several months, the online stranger instructed the victims to record and send photos and videos of themselves engaged in sexual acts. Detectives ultimately traced the online stranger’s social media activity to a household in Dallas, TX.
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, with the assistance of the Dallas (TX) Police Department and the United States Marshals Service, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit traveled to Dallas, TX and executed a search warrant at the residence in question. The continuing investigation revealed that QURISTAFER D. LAND was the user in control of the social media account, extorting the victims and obtaining photos and videos of sexual acts. In addition, detectives determined that LAND utilized the likeness of another person to create several online accounts used to facilitate the sexual extortion activity.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, QURISTAFER D. LAND was arrested in Dallas, TX pursuant to charges filed in Bergen County Superior Court by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. LAND was charged with first-degree production of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(B)3; second-degree aggravated sexual extortion, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9.1(C)3; third-degree sexual extortion, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-9.1A(2); and third-degree impersonation, N.J.S.A. 2C:21-17a(1). Consequently, LAND was placed in custody by deputy United States Marshals and officers from the Dallas (TX) Police Department, who were working alongside detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit. LAND was remanded to the Dallas County (TX) Jail, pending extradition to New Jersey.
Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Lyndhurst Police Department for their assistance with this investigation. Moreover, Prosecutor Musella thanks and recognizes the assistance and partnership of the Dallas (TX) Police Department; the Dallas County (TX) Sheriff’s Office; and the United States Marshals Service North Texas Fugitive Task Force for the apprehension of the defendant.
