News Update from the Mayor
June 13, 2025

Hello. This is Mayor Mark Zinna with a Friday news update.

Please join us on Monday, June 16 at 6:30 pm for our annual Juneteenth flag raising ceremony at Huyler Park. The entire Tenafly community is invited.

Come to the Tenafly Swim Team's Info Session this Saturday, June 14, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Mackay School Pavilion (111 Jefferson Ave). The summer swim team for ages 5 to 17 will practice five days a week at our Municipal Pool (165 Grove St) and have weekly meets from the end of June to the beginning of August. Learn more at tenaflyswimteam.org.

Congratulations to Boys Tennis who finished with an undefeated regular season record, won the North 1 Group 3 Sectional State Championship and won in their Conference.

Congratulations to Team Mavric-1st/2nd grade girls Recreation Softball team for winning the title of Division Champions. The girls advanced to the Championship game. GO TIGERS!

The Tenafly United U10 Boys Soccer team won the 2025 NCSA Champions Cup. This year long "march madness" style bracket tournament featured 28 teams with the top 2 facing each other Saturday evening at Ramapo College and our boys won with a 3-2 victory over Global JC. It was an incredible night for the boys and our families.

Spring is wrapping up, and it’s a great time to enjoy the outdoors right here in Tenafly. On Saturday, June 14, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, families can join a Seasonal Scavenger Hunt at the Tenafly Nature Center. Solve fun nature clues together along the trails. Great for kids 4 and up!

Also this weekend, the Butterfly House is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with sessions at 1:30 and 2:30 PM. Come see native butterflies up close and even feed them, it’s a magical experience.

Then on Sunday, June 15, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, celebrate Father’s Day with a special Family Hike. It’s a guided walk honoring all the important caregivers in our lives. Space is limited for each event, so reserve your spot in advance at TenaflyNatureCenter.org. See you out on the trails!

The Library will host its annual Summer Reading Kickoff Picnic sponsored by the Library Friends this Saturday, June 14, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This year's picnic is better than ever. The Center for Aquatic Sciences will bring their hands-on Beach Detective table. Community members of all ages are invited to investigate different animal artifacts that can be found on the beach. And, of course, we will have crafts, games, and food for purchase. Everyone is invited!

Save the date for Saturday, June 28 from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm in Roosevelt Common for our Annual 4th of July Celebration hosted by Tenafly Recreation. Come and join us for rides, games, giveaways, food, contests, a DJ and more!

Have a peaceful weekend everyone,
Mayor Mark Zinna
