Jibril M. Beamon and Shedrick A. Goodridge, III
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of 32-year-old JIBRIL M. BEAMON of Somerset, NJ and 35-year-old SHEDRICK A. GOODRIDGE, III of Jersey City, NJ on charges stemming from two armed robberies of area hotels. The arrests are the result of a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck; the Teaneck Police Department, under the direction of Chief Andrew McGurr; and the Newark Police Department, under the direction of Chief Sharonda Morris.
On Saturday, September 21, 2024, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Teaneck Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Hampton Inn. Officers arrived and located two employees who reported that a masked man with a gun entered the lobby and motioned to the sales register. The armed suspect stole cash and fled the scene before the police were summoned. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad was notified, responded to the scene, and initiated a joint investigation with the Teaneck Police Department.
As the investigation progressed in the weeks and months ahead, detectives determined that a second suspect was involved in the armed robbery, and they were able to identify both men as JIBRIL M. BEAMON and SHEDRICK A. GOODRIDGE, III. In addition, detectives connected both suspects to a similar, unsolved armed robbery that was committed two days prior to the Teaneck incident on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in Newark, NJ. In that instance, both men were masked and armed when they entered the hotel lobby of the Comfort Suites in Newark. They approached a hotel employee and stole cash from the front desk. As was the case in the Teaneck occurrence, the armed men fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.
As a result of the investigation, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, with the assistance of the Somerset County SWAT Team, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Teaneck Police Department executed a search warrant at JIBRIL M. BEAMON’s Somerset residence. BEAMON was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(2); two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1). BEAMON was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Also on Thursday, May 22, 2025, with the assistance of the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Teaneck Police Department executed a search warrant at SHEDRICK A. GOODRIDGE, III’s Jersey City residence. GOODRIDGE, III was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(2); two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1). GOODRIDGE, III was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Teaneck Police Department and the Newark Police Department for their assistance with this investigation, as well as the Bernards Township Police Department, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office for their coordination of this investigation.
