**Sunday Session - David Hamburger -** **April 12, 2:00** David Hamburger is an Austin-based fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter, known for his sense of groove, witty and poignant songwriting and engaging stage presence. Born and raised just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, he began playing guitar at age twelve.
Equally inspired by Mississippi John Hurt, Dave Van Ronk, Mose Allison and Tin Pan Alley songwriters, David’s unique style blends blues, jazz, folk and bluegrass influences. In a lifelong music career, he has worked as a composer for film and television, a sideman and session musician, and a music journalist, all of which have widened and deepened his knowledge of and love for American roots music.
David primarily performs original songs and jazz-influenced blues instrumentals, plus the occasional standard or traditional blues tune. In addition to releasing six records of his own, David has toured with folk legend Joan Baez, appeared on record with Pete Seeger and Bruce Springsteen, performed with Cindy Cashdollar, Duke Robillard, Roy Book Binder and Allen Ginsberg, and appeared at Merlefest, the Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Kennedy Center. David is the author of twelve books, and hundreds of articles for *Guitar Player,* *Acoustic Guitar* and other publications. His Youtube channel has over 35,000 subscribers, and for the past five years he has hosted *The Fingerstyle Five*, a lively online lesson membership. *Vintage Guitar* Magazine recently described David as “one of the most impressive acoustic fingerpickers on the scene.” He currently performs regularly in Austin and around the U.S.
