Whippany Burying Yard Historic MarkerJoin Hanover Township Landmark Commission Chairperson, Michael Czuchnicki, to learn the fascinating history of the Whippany Burying Yard. Established in 1718, this oldest colonial graveyard in Morris County is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is older than the United States itself. The Burying Yard and its inhabitants have been witnesses to 300 years of history. Heroes from the Revolution rest here; nearby were the first iron forge and many water-powered mills. Learn of explosions – lots of them! You'll also learn how Whippanong (now Whippany) used to encompass all of Morris, Warren, and Sussex counties!

This program is appropriate for adults and young adults ages 13 and over. Registration is required.
