Wednesday, March 4th
7:00pm - 8:00pm
The story begins with its earliest use as a north–south Lenape trail, a natural passage through the Ramapo Mountains that later developed into a key colonial route.
Presenter, Joe Carey, traces its evolution with Blandina Kiersted Bayard’s establishment of a trading post around 1700, followed by its growing importance through the early colonial period and into the American Revolution. The talk highlights the strategic significance of this corridor during the Revolution and the notable figures who may have traveled through the area we now call Ramsey along with the units from Rochambeau's March in 1781.
