Join us for a special documentary screening commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Passaic Textile Strike. This rare 1926 silent film chronicles the historic strike of more than 15,000 Northern New Jersey textile workers, including many from Garfield, who fought for fair wages, shorter hours, and safer working conditions. Regarded by film historians as one of the only early American labor films preserved largely intact, the film offers a powerful window into this pivotal moment in labor history.
Jacob Zumoff, history professor at New Jersey City University and author of The Red Thread: The Passaic Textile Strike (Rutgers University Press), will introduce the film and lead a post-screening Q&A.
