Craft Supply Swap

January is National Hobby Month. Celebrate with the library by bringing in your unneeded arts and crafts supplies to swap with other crafters!

From January 12-16, drop your unwanted supplies at the reference desk during library hours, or bring them with you the day of the swap. At the swap, help yourself to what you need for your current or future projects and chat with other crafters!

This is a great opportunity to try a new hobby or trade out your unneeded supplies in a sustainable way! We will also have a display of library books to help you learn your new hobby.

Suggested Items for Swapping

  • Fiber & Sewing: Fabric (fat quarters or larger), yarn, thread, knitting needles, crochet hooks, patterns, and sewing notions.
  • Mark Making & Painting: Paints (acrylic, watercolor, etc.), brushes, markers, pencils, inks, and pastels.
  • Paper Crafts: Scrapbooking supplies, cardstock, stamps, ink pads, stickers, and craft punches.
  • Tools & Substrates: Scissors, glue guns, craft knives, canvases, sketchbooks, and drawing paper.
  • Miscellaneous: Beads and jewelry findings, googly eyes, pom-poms, craft sticks, and instruction books/magazine

Common Rules

  • Condition: Items should be clean and in new or gently used condition.

  • Item Type: Most art and craft supplies are accepted, but organizers may set limits on large machinery or unusable materials like empty paint tubes or trash.

  • Packaging: Small items like beads or buttons should be bundled into clear bags, and items without original packaging should have a description.
